Email Client Configuration - Thunderbird

Here we will show you how to setup your email client (this is the program you use to collect your email messages from DS4A servers, such as 'Thunderbird', 'MS Outlook' or 'MacOS Mail').

In this example we will show you how to configure 'Thunderbird', but the basic priciples and information are the same for any email client. For specific configuration and setup information relating to your chosen email client, please refer to your chosen softwares help files.

Ensure you are using the lastes version of your email client. You can download the lastest version of Mozilla's Thunderbird from here:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/thunderbird/

Having opened thunderbird go to the menu bar and select:

Edit -> Account Settings -> Account Actions -> Add Mail Account...

You will be presented with the 'Mail Account Setup' box. Complete the various fields presented and click on the 'continue' button.

DS4A provide an auto configuration file for thunderbird*, all remaining information should have been automatically configured for you.

You can choose to use IMAP or POP3 for your mail storage. DS4A recommends accepting the default option of IMAP.

That's it! You should now be able to send and receive email.


* When using an alternative email client, you will need to manually enter the relevant information. All the required information will be contained within our knowledgebase and as a result of creating your email address (email address and password - you can also download configuration information for other email clients) in your cPanel.
